ALS Laboratories in Chatteris is seeking a detail-driven and proactive Analyst to join our busy and dedicated food testing team in the Pesticides section. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a scientific mindset who enjoys practical, hands-on work with samples, particularly in detecting and analysing pesticide residues. The ideal candidate will have a passion for performing precise calculations and working with analytical instruments such as HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), GC-MS/MS (Gas Chromatography/mass spectrometry), and LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography/mass spectrometry).
As an Analyst, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely food analysis. You'll be responsible for testing a diverse range of samples and ensuring that results are consistently reliable and compliant with regulatory and client expectations.

- Shift: 07:00 – 15:30, Monday to Friday
- Contract: Full Time and Permanent
- Annual Salary: £27,180
The day to day
- Carrying out analytical testing according to documented methodologies and procedures, with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency.
- Delivering results within required timescales, meeting both method standards and client expectations.
- Performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
- Reporting any issues or uncertainties in testing to the laboratory management team promptly.
- Completing daily quality control checks and equipment calibrations as needed.
- Following all site-specific Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
The Essentials
- Degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject, or proven experience in relevant analytical techniques.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of analysis across a range of methodologies, techniques, and procedures e.g., HPLC, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS etc.
- Good communication skills, written and oral, with good organisational skills and the ability to accurately follow methods and excellent attention to detail.
- 2-3 years' experience within a laboratory is desirable.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
