About Us: Alpkit was founded on friendship, a love of adventure and a deep frustration at the high cost of top-end gear. Alpkit Group Ltd is now a family of three brands with one shared spirit of adventure: Alpkit, the UK's only direct-to-consumer performance brand for those who run, hike, climb, camp, swim and bike; Sonder, an award-winning adventure bike brand; and Trakke, crafting UK-made outdoor and travel bags. Go Nice Places Do Good Things is more than our tagline; it captures the belief of business as a force for good and that elitism and expense should never be a barrier to time spent outdoors. 1% of all sales are donated to the Alpkit Foundation which supports grassroots projects that help people get outside.

Right now, we’re looking for a Social Media and Community Manager to lead and execute our social and community strategy. You’ll be responsible for driving business growth by attracting new customers and building brand loyalty across our three brands.

The Role: In this role you are responsible for:

  • Social Media Management
    • Strategic delivery - lead our social and community strategy to drive business growth by attracting new customers and building brand loyalty.
    • Commission, curate and create content – work closely with brand ambassadors and colleagues across Alpkit to identify and bring stories to life through our content.
    • Content planning – plan, tailor and schedule content across our channels to align with campaign plans, product launches and partnership activations.
    • Brand consistency - ensure the social content we publish, including ambassador collaborations, are visually compelling and aligned with our brand identity, campaigns and tone of voice.
    • Performance analysis – monitor social performance and leverage insights to optimise commercial performance and incrementally grow the return on investment in our social channels.
    • Innovation and trends – keep abreast and respond to social media trends and platform updates, including making recommendations to the wider team on how we can capitalise on new opportunities.
  • Community Management
    • Manage our network of brand ambassadors and one-off collaborators. This includes identifying new ambassadors and collaborators, setting clear objectives for each engagement, managing the relationships to ensure agreed deliverables are met, reviewing the effectiveness of the content and collaboration, and retiring relationships as required.
    • Storytelling - have an ear for great storytelling and work with others to bring those stories to life through visually attractive and compelling content.
    • Insight and engagement – work with Head of Marketing to gain insights into our customers and ensure social campaign plans are data-driven and engaging with appropriate audience segments.
    • Budget management – manage the sponsorship and social budget to ensure activities are conducted in a cost-efficient manner and maximise the return on investment.
  • Amplify Stores and Events
    • Work with store teams to create social content that supports our promotional activities and campaigns.
    • Work with store teams and our partners to capture content that amplifies our events, for example the Winter Gravel Series bike rides and Big Shakeout festival.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in using social media to drive business goals, including collaborating with influencers and/or brand ambassadors, and day-to-day content planning and channel management.
  • Commercial mindset, with strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices and how they can be leveraged to attract new customers and build brand loyalty.
  • Highly organised and proactive with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling and brand narrative.
  • Ability to use tools such as Insta 360, Canva and CapCut to create and edit high-quality and visually compelling content.
  • Proven experience in building relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external contacts to meet business goals.
  • An appreciation of our values and mission as a sustainable outdoor business.
  • A love of adventure – an immediate understanding of our products and audience is not essential but will give you a head start in the role.
