Oversee statutory planning and building services to support safe, sustainable operations in Victoria's alpine resorts.
The opportunity: Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) is seeking an experienced and dynamic statutory planning and building services professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead planning compliance and building regulation across its six resorts.
In this pivotal role, you'll ensure compliance with the Alpine Planning Scheme and other key legislation—while championing sustainable development and safe operations. You'll provide expert advice, manage permits for ARV-led projects, and oversee third-party development referrals to keep everything aligned with government policies and resort objectives.
But that's just the start. You'll:
- Shape ARV-wide policies and practices for planning and building compliance.
- Manage Municipal Building Surveyors and Environmental Health Officers.
- Represent ARV in VCAT and regulatory forums.
- Build strong partnerships with government agencies to influence planning reform and streamline approvals.
Qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in statutory planning, building regulation, or a related discipline (e.g. town planning, regulation, legal).
- Minimum 4 years' relevant experience in statutory planning or related area.
- Previous experience and success in resolving stakeholder issues with a solution focus.
- Experience with public sector planning systems and reporting (desirable).
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Have full Australian working rights.
- Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type.
- Have an Australian drivers licence (Victorian licence preferred).
- Satisfactorily pass a police check and random drug & alcohol tests.
Location: Choice of either: Mansfield Office or resort (Buller, Hotham or Falls Creek)
Salary Range: $97,955 plus superannuation
Contract Term: 12 months full-time, with the potential to go permanent
