Senior Machinist
We're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Machinist to lead a team of skilled machinists within our Metallics Production department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a people-focused manufacturing leader who can combine strong technical expertise with the ability to develop, motivate and inspire a high-performing team. This role will be supporting our Day Shift team, working Tuesday to Friday.
The Role
As Senior Machinist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality metallic components while leading the performance, development and day-to-day management of your team. Working closely with the Metallics Production Manager, you will drive safety, quality, productivity and continuous improvement across the cell.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead, coach and develop a team of machinists.
- Drive team performance through regular feedback, performance reviews and one-to-one meetings.
- Set daily production priorities and ensure delivery against operational targets.
- Manage resources, attendance and absences to maintain production efficiency.
- Ensure components are produced to specification and meet quality standards.
- Resolve production, scheduling and quality issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Develop team capability through training, skills development and succession planning.
- Create and maintain skills matrices to identify critical skills and development opportunities.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and performance.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and highly engaged working environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous leadership experience within a manufacturing, machining or engineering environment.
- People management skills with a passion for developing others.
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- A strong engineering background with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Mazak equipment
- Experience of working to demanding quality and delivery standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across teams.
- Experience using manufacturing and business systems, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
