The Role

In this role, you’ll be helping the department develop complex shapes that push the boundaries of performance while navigating challenging legality requirements. You will directly influence the aerodynamic efficiency of our Formula 1 car, helping us gain a competitive edge on the track.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Be
- Working in the Surface Design group, you will contribute to creating surfacing schemes to allow aerodynamic concepts to be evaluated.
- Alongside our aerodynamicists, you will be a key part of the process of ensuring that the surfaces tested comply with the Formula One technical regulations.
- You will liaise with other members of the aero department, such as aerodynamicists, CFD engineers and wind tunnel model designers, to ensure that the desired aerodynamic intent is captured, and our development process runs smoothly.
- You will liaise with the design team for the race car to ensure the compatibility of aero surfaces with full-size manufacturing techniques.
- You will help to improve the methodology and procedures used to develop the surfaces of our car.
The Person
The person we are looking for will have many of these skills and capabilities:
- A passion for racing and working in fast paced high performance team
- The ability to interpret geometric descriptions and sketches and use them to create complex 3D geometry.
- While not a requirement, it would be an advantage to have a degree in one of the following or a similar subject: Mechanical Engineering. Product Design, Automotive and Transport Design, Automotive Engineering,
- CAD experience a bonus (Catia 3DX would be a particular advantage).
- Excellent communication, liaison and team working skills, recognising that working together with colleagues in other disciplines is essential to the efficient function of the department.
- The ability to manage your work schedule effectively and efficiently to meet demanding design deadlines.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to find creative solutions to problems.
