Key Responsibilities- On-Site Surveying & Data Collection
- Carry out detailed roof surveys across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
- Measure roof dimensions, drainage points, outlets, perimeters, falls, upstands, and penetrations with accuracy.
- Identify existing build-ups, verify deck condition, and assess requirements for tapered insulation or flat board.
- Capture photographic evidence and produce clear survey notes to support the design process.
- Assess risks relating to access, working at height and site constraints.
- Identify suitable tapered insulation approaches (e.g., PIR, Rockwool, hybrid systems).
- Determine constraints such as U-value requirements, minimum falls, and compliance with BS 6229 and manufacturer guidelines.
- Recommend where tapered gutters, sumps, or additional design features may be required.
- Liaise with contractors/manufacturers to understand project requirements, sequencing and installation preferences.
- Provide precise survey data to the internal design team to allow production of accurate tapered schemes (CAD/PDF).
- Clarify technical queries and ensure survey findings align with proposed build-ups.
- Support the design team with revisions where site conditions differ from drawings or tender information.
- Act as a technical representative for the business during surveys.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, installers, consultants, and manufacturers.
- Provide on-site guidance on tapered insulation best practice and drainage optimisation.
- Represent the company professionally and support commercial decision-making where required.
- Produce clear and concise survey reports within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all survey work aligns with relevant standards (BS 6229, Part L, fire requirements, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records of site visits, access arrangements, and risk assessments.
- Support project tracking and ensure information is fed into CRM or internal systems.

- Strong understanding of flat roofing systems (single-ply, liquid, bituminous, warm roof build-ups, etc.).
- Experience in tapered insulation (PIR, mineral wool, hybrid).
- Comfortable surveying roofs at height with appropriate training/PPE.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in a roofing surveyor, estimator, or technical advisor role.
- Knowledge of system manufacturers.
- CSCS card or equivalent site qualification.
- Thermal and U-value understanding.
- Professional, reliable, and confident representing the business on site.
- Able to work independently and manage a varied site schedule.

- Strong time-management and organisation skills.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn tapered design principles in depth.
