An established UK construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its Bristol team, working across a portfolio of high-value construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong QS looking to join a well-established contractor offering varied projects, long-term career development and a supportive working environment.

The Role

  • Working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, you'll take responsibility for key commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Preparing and analysing project budgets
    • Procuring subcontractors and the wider supply chain
    • Preparing subcontract order documentation
    • Assessing and certifying subcontractor interim payments
    • Preparing interim valuations and final account submissions
    • Managing and valuing variations
    • Assisting with Extension of Time claims and Loss & Expense submissions
    • Identifying and managing commercial risks
    • Supporting the production of accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports
    • Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
    • Ensuring strong communication between commercial and operational site teams

About You

  • We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate:
    • A relevant degree qualification
    • Strong construction industry experience
    • Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
    • Sound commercial awareness
    • Experience across core QS responsibilities including procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills
    • Excellent organisational and numerical ability
    • Good IT and problem-solving skills
    • The ability to manage deadlines effectively
    • Flexibility to travel to sites when required
