An established UK construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its Bristol team, working across a portfolio of high-value construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong QS looking to join a well-established contractor offering varied projects, long-term career development and a supportive working environment.
The Role
- Working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, you'll take responsibility for key commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and analysing project budgets
- Procuring subcontractors and the wider supply chain
- Preparing subcontract order documentation
- Assessing and certifying subcontractor interim payments
- Preparing interim valuations and final account submissions
- Managing and valuing variations
- Assisting with Extension of Time claims and Loss & Expense submissions
- Identifying and managing commercial risks
- Supporting the production of accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports
- Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
- Ensuring strong communication between commercial and operational site teams
About You
- We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate:
- A relevant degree qualification
- Strong construction industry experience
- Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Sound commercial awareness
- Experience across core QS responsibilities including procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisational and numerical ability
- Good IT and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Flexibility to travel to sites when required
