Alpine F1 Team have an opportunity within the Composites Department as a Composite Technician – Kit Cutter on a fixed term contract until the end of 2027, working with our night shift team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of our composite manufacturing operation, preparing and cutting high-performance composite materials used in the production of race winning components.
You will play a critical role in ensuring laminating teams receive accurately prepared kits that meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and demanding production deadlines.
The Role
- Cutting composite materials, including prepreg carbon fibre and glass fibre, using manual and automated cutting equipment.
- Interpreting engineering drawings, templates, and nesting plans to ensure accurate material preparation.
- Preparing, labelling, and organising composite kits to support efficient production and full traceability.
- Ensuring all kits meet required quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
- Following correct handling procedures for temperature-sensitive materials, including freezer storage and defrosting processes.
- Recording material usage and wastage within the ERP system (D365).
- Maintaining accurate documentation to ensure material and kit traceability.
- Supporting inventory checks and stock rotation activities for composite materials.
- Collaborating with laminators, planners, and cell leads to meet production requirements.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and adhering to all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Experience handling and cutting composite materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, templates, and manufacturing specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A proactive team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Experience within motorsport, aerospace, or high-performance composite manufacturing is desirable.
- Knowledge of nesting software and automated cutting machines is desirable.
- Experience using ERP systems, for example Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), is desirable.
