Job Description

Alpine F1 Team is seeking a skilled and motivated Wind Tunnel Test & Operations Engineer to join our Aerodynamics department. Based at our state-of-the-art facility in rural Oxfordshire, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performance team at the cutting edge of Formula 1 development.

If you\’re hands-on, detail-oriented, have a passion for experimental aerodynamics and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this could be your next step in motorsport.

The Role

As a Wind Tunnel Test & Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our wind tunnel facility. You’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining the tunnel, supporting aerodynamic model testing, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all test data.

Your work will span a wide range of technical systems—including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components—and you’ll be involved in everything from test planning and model setup to calibration, fault diagnosis, and data validation. You’ll also contribute to the development of wind tunnel methodologies and help drive continuous improvement across the department.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work closely with aerodynamicists, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality results.

The Person

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation in aeronautical engineering, with a strong understanding of fluid dynamics and practical experience in a testing or R&D environment. You’ll be confident working with complex systems, capable of solving problems under pressure, and comfortable taking ownership of tasks from start to finish.

You’ll also be a natural collaborator—someone who communicates clearly, works well in a team, and is always looking for ways to improve processes and performance.

Key Skills & Experience

We’re looking for candidates with experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Wind tunnel operations and model systems
  • Experimental race car aerodynamics
  • Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Calibration and data acquisition
  • Fault diagnosis and root cause analysis
  • Data analysis and performance monitoring
  • Technical documentation and test planning
  • Aerodynamics and fluid dynamics
  • CAD, instrumentation, and control systems

Working Pattern

This is a factory-based role at our Enstone Technical Centre. The standard schedule includes four working days per week (two weekdays and two weekend days), with occasional additional hours during upgrades, maintenance, or the FIA shutdown. Participation in an out-of-hours on-call support rota is also required.

Our offer to you:

  • Company pension scheme
  • Free onsite gym
  • Holiday buy-back scheme
  • Subsidised restaurant
  • Opportunities for remote working
  • Private healthcare
  • A leading training and mentoring programme

And many other benefits designed to support your personal.
