About Us

We are a high-performance Formula One Team driven by innovation, precision, and passion. Our Powertrain group is responsible for the design and development of critical systems including heat rejection, hydraulics, and fuel, as well as the seamless integration of the engine and hybrid systems. As a Powertrain Design Student Placement, you’ll be part of a team that transforms cutting-edge concepts into race-ready solutions that directly impact on-track performance.

The Role

During the placement, you’ll support the design and development of mechanical components across the powertrain systems, including heat rejection, hydraulics, and fuel. Working alongside experienced design engineers, you’ll contribute to CAD modelling, design validation, and technical documentation, helping ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with the Formula One regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of powertrain components using CAD tools
  • Help prepare technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes and component performance
  • Collaborate with simulation, performance, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and integration
  • Investigate and resolve issues occurring from any failures or required improvements for the current car

Who We’re Looking For

  • Currently studying a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Motorsport Engineering and looking for an industry placement as your penultimate year of university
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Familiarity with FEA tools and design for manufacturing principles
  • Passion for motorsport and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
  • You must have the right to work in the UK, as we cannot provide sponsorship for this role
  • Be available to attend onsite for an assessment centre in September
