Alpine Formula One Team are looking for a Junior Model Maker Technician to join our dynamic Model Shop. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge environment, contributing directly to the performance and development of high-level aerodynamic testing. This is a weekend position, on a rotating 3-day shift.
The Role
As a Junior Model Maker Technician, you will play a vital role in the preparation, maintenance, and operation of wind tunnel test models. Your responsibilities will include:
- Manufacturing and pre-fitting components for wind tunnel testing using a variety of materials and tools.
- Conducting ‘Pit Stops’ in a safe, methodical and timely manner.
- Operating the wind tunnel and ensuring its safe and effective performance during tests.
- Preparing test models to exact specifications and ensuring readiness for testing.
- Performing basic fault finding and following reset procedures as needed.
- Documenting progress and providing feedback on faults and process improvements.
- Adhering to all Health and Safety policies and maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or certificate in Modelmaking (preferred).
- Experience using machine tools and workshop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a logical, methodical approach to tasks.
- The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- A proactive attitude and flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn bespoke control systems (training provided).
- A strong team ethic and motivation to contribute to a high-performance environment.
