Alpine Construction Essex Limited, founded in 1999 and based in Southend‑on‑Sea, specialises in insurance claims for properties affected by fire, flood, subsidence, oil loss and similar events. We are expanding our small, friendly team and are looking for an experienced Buyer Construction to join us.
Key responsibilities include:
- Produce take‑offs from drawings.
- Obtain quotes from all suppliers and identify the most cost‑effective and quickest delivery options.
- Ensure timely delivery of all materials to avoid delays for trades.
- Plan ahead using the project planner to anticipate material needs for upcoming weeks.
- Oversee the junior buyer and confirm that clients’ selections (flooring, tiles, bathrooms, paints, etc.) are ordered on time.
- Maintain and update the whiteboard daily with job status.
- Report progress to the office manager.
- Attend a late‑night meeting (Thursday evenings) with the office manager and director; food is provided.
Qualifications and experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a purchasing/buyer role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction buying processes and supplier management.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Late‑night Thursday meetings and Friday lunch are provided by a local burger van.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
