About This Role
Direct & Indirect Taxes- Manage the companies tax advisor network and flow of information for tax computation preparation for the trading subsidiary entities in the following countries: UK (head office and hold co), US, Germany, UAE, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Portugal.
- Preparation of the UK tax computations and calculation of quarterly installments payments for future years tax computations (including R&D tax relief claim).
- Oversee US state & federal taxes and US sales tax processing requirements, supported by local advisors.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation and review recharge policies/processes.
- Preparation of the corporation and deferred tax accruals in the consolidated financial statements on a monthly basis in accordance with GAAP.
- Preparation of tax provisions for the year end audit and accounts.
- Support GFC/CFO in tax planning and optimizing the Group's effective tax rate.
- Process oversight to ensure that VAT & Sales/Use tax returns are submitted accurately and in time by the local finance teams.
- Lead response to tax investigations (for both direct & indirect taxation) across all geographies, supported by local finance staff and local tax advisors.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation and overseas accounting recharges between subsidiaries.
- Act as in‑house expert on payroll tax issues in relation to compensation, benefits in kind and assist in clearly defining the areas where activity may not be deductible for certain taxes and communicating this appropriately.
- Oversight of the preparation of UK PSA filings.
- Oversight of contractor status across geographies (e.g. IR35 UK, 1099 filings US etc.).
- Lead tax compliance initiatives (including UK SAO obligations) and maintain a tax risk register to ensure that where there are risks they are properly assessed and reviewed by the board.
- Supporting the GFC/CFO with the decision‑making process and any ad hoc requests.
- Drive ad‑hoc tax and ERP system project work.
- Support the annual financial statement audit process on the tax side including in close interaction with external tax advisors and the auditors.
- Strong academic credentials and an advanced tax qualification is essential.
- Further to this, an accounting qualification would be highly desirable but not essential.
- Experience in a tax advisory function and/or in a tax department in an international business is important.
- Evidence of having dealt with tax authorities in a professional capacity is also necessary.
- International exposure to both direct and indirect tax (corp tax, payroll taxes, VAT, sales tax) challenges.
- Some exposure to US tax environment is highly desirable.
- Technically strong and up to date knowledge of tax legislation.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- The drive and resilience to deliver excellent service amidst tight timelines and changing circumstances.
- Growth mindset: the ability to develop in your role over time and view setbacks as learning opportunities.
- Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in a relevant foreign language is a plus.
- £85-£100k + variable bonus compensation.
