Job Overview
Syracuse Energy Systems Inc is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Lead Installer to join our Field Operations team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in system installations, takes pride in precise craftsmanship, and values teamwork. As a Lead Installer, you\’ll oversee and execute high-quality installations of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, ensuring full code compliance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, water heaters, ductless mini-splits, air handlers, and ventilation systems per code and manufacturer specifications.
- Fabricate and install duct systems (sheet metal and flex) for both new construction and retrofit applications.
- Perform electrical hookups, thermostat installations, and ensure code-compliant wiring.
- Handle refrigerants safely, charge and recover systems, and ensure leak-free performance.
- Execute complete system start-ups including airflow verification, refrigerant pressure checks, and temperature tests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues efficiently and accurately.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Collaborate with apprentices, fellow installers, and contractors to meet deadlines and job requirements.
- Communicate courteously with customers, explaining system functions and addressing post-installation questions.
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and proper care of tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
- Document work through installation checklists, refrigerant logs, and photographic records.
- Follow all company safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on HVAC installation experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Universal EPA Certification required.
- Proven ability to lead installations independently and work collaboratively with a team.
- Strong understanding of HVAC codes and safe work practices.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- High level of organization, communication, and customer service skills.
- Must be willing to and capable of completing full unit commission paperwork.
- Commitment to delivering quality work with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Willingness to train and lead new employees
- Must have the ability to work in multi-level environments (cannot be afraid of heights).
