We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong technical background and a passion for problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
Duties:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
- Diagnose faults accurately using diagnostic tools and techniques, then perform repairs efficiently.
- Replace worn or damaged parts, including belts, bearings, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs undertaken, and parts used.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and optimise machine performance.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades as required.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and well-stocked with necessary tools and parts.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Mechanical Engineering are desirable.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for mobility around site or between locations.
This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks combined with technical proficiency. The ideal candidate will be committed to safety standards and continuous improvement within their craft. MOT Tester preferred but not essential.
