We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong technical background and a passion for problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
  • Diagnose faults accurately using diagnostic tools and techniques, then perform repairs efficiently.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts, including belts, bearings, hydraulics, and electrical components.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs undertaken, and parts used.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and optimise machine performance.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades as required.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and well-stocked with necessary tools and parts.

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Mechanical Engineering are desirable.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for mobility around site or between locations.

This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks combined with technical proficiency. The ideal candidate will be committed to safety standards and continuous improvement within their craft. MOT Tester preferred but not essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
