Join Our Team as a Management Accountant
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join our Finance Team and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial management, reporting and business partnering across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, providing accurate and timely financial information, insightful analysis and robust forecasting to support strategic and operational decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues across an organisation, influencing decision-making and driving financial accountability. You will also support a range of housing association activities, including rent and service charge setting, asset investment, repairs and maintenance, and value for money initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Management Accountant, you will:
Lead the monthly management accounts process, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting.
Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
Produce monthly management accounts, financial performance reports, variance analysis and insightful commentary.
Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
Support robust budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with budget holders across the organisation.
Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and areas requiring management action.
Provide constructive challenge and trusted financial advice to managers and Heads of Service.
Support annual rent setting and service charge processes, including financial modelling and analysis.
Contribute to year-end accounts preparation, audit processes and financial control activities.
Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting, controls and processes.
Support and develop colleagues within the Finance Team.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with excellent communication and business partnering abilities.
You will be:
Part-qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) and actively studying towards qualification, or qualified by experience (QBE).
Experienced in preparing monthly management accounts and delivering high-quality financial reporting.
Confident in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
Experienced in working with budget holders and providing financial advice and constructive challenge.
Highly analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
Able to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
Proficient in Excel, including analysing and manipulating large volumes of financial data.
Organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous if you have experience or knowledge of:
Housing associations, social housing providers or similarly regulated organisations.
Housing association finance and sector-specific financial drivers.
Rent setting and service charge accounting.
The Regulator of Social Housing's Rent Standard.
Repairs, maintenance and asset investment accounting.
Value for Money metrics and reporting requirements.
Statutory accounts preparation and external audit.
