Overview
We are seeking a practical and experienced Agronomist to support a major civil engineering project in Kent, working on behalf of a leading contractor. The role will focus on managing the interface between construction activities and surrounding agricultural land, ensuring minimal disruption to farming operations and maintaining soil and crop integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on soil management, handling, and reinstatement during construction works
- Monitor impacts of site activities on adjacent farmland and crops
- Liaise with landowners, tenants, and farm managers to coordinate works
- Develop and oversee mitigation strategies to protect agricultural productivity
- Provide input into method statements and environmental management plans
- Support compliance with planning conditions, environmental regulations, and agricultural best practice
- Conduct site inspections and produce clear, practical reports and recommendations
- Assist with land restoration and aftercare planning post-construction
Requirements
- Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Soil Science, or related field
- Proven experience in a hands-on agronomy or agricultural advisory role
- Strong understanding of soil structure, drainage, and crop systems in the UK
- Experience working alongside infrastructure or construction projects (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to engage confidently with farmers, contractors, and project teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- BASIS and/or FACTS qualification preferred
- Full UK driving licence
