Procurement Manager – Manufacturing

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in South Yorkshire.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the purchasing and supply chain function, driving continuous improvement, developing supplier relationships and ensuring materials and subcontract services are delivered to the highest standards of quality, cost and performance.

Reporting directly to the Company Directors, you will play a key role in shaping procurement strategy while leading and developing a high-performing supply chain team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Purchasing, Materials and Supply Chain functions.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to achieve best value, quality and delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes and supply chain performance.
  • Manage departmental KPIs, analysing performance and implementing improvement plans.
  • Work closely with Production and Commercial teams to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the procurement team through coaching, performance management and succession planning.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure robust purchasing processes and best practice are embedded throughout the department.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous Procurement or Supply Chain Management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
  • Excellent supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Proven experience delivering process improvements and business change.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing KPIs and driving operational performance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • CIPS qualification (desirable).
