Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator Barnsley, South Yorkshire | Permanent | High-End Salary An excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an ambitious and growing specialist contractor, with a high-end salary available for the right person. Our client is an established specialist contractor based in Barnsley, delivering projects across the construction sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a capable Quantity Surveyor who can take responsibility for the commercial process from initial drawing take-off and estimating through to project completion and final account. This is predominantly an office-based role, with occasional site visits required across the Yorkshire region. The Role You will be responsible for managing the commercial side of projects from tender through to completion, working closely with the operational and senior management teams. Key responsibilities will include: * Producing quantities and detailed take-offs from drawings, followed by accurate estimating and pricing * Managing valuations, applications for payment, variations, change and Compensation Events (CEs) * Monitoring project costs, commercial performance, forecasts and final accounts * Working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project teams to ensure commercial matters are effectively managed * Carrying out occasional site visits across Yorkshire and providing commercial support throughout project delivery About You We are looking for a hands-on Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable managing the complete commercial lifecycle of a project. You should have strong experience in quantity take-offs, estimating, valuations, variations/change control and final accounts, together with the commercial awareness to identify and manage risk and opportunity. Experience within partitioning, plastering, drylining, ceilings, internal fit-out or other specialist construction would be particularly advantageous, although relevant QS experience from other areas of construction will be considered.
