Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation across source and target systems.
  • Develop and maintain application and integration code following good engineering practices (version control, code review, testing).
  • Support deployment and environment management, including Infrastructure as Code where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, performance, and pipeline issues.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to gather requirements and demonstrate progress.
  • Support Senior Consultants and Managers on estimation, planning, and risk identification.
  • Typically 2–4 years' experience in data engineering, integration, or software development (adjust to your banding).
  • Strong hands‑on experience with the

Microsoft Azure data stack (e. g. Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Storage, Functions).

  • Proficiency in
  • SQL and at least one general‑purpose language ( Python

, C#, or similar).

  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data modelling, and data migration methodologies.
  • Experience with source control (Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Ability to work in client‑facing delivery environments and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical audiences.

Desirable / Nice to Have

  • Experience with
  • Databricks and/or
  • Snowflake
  • Cloud development experience, particularly
  • Infrastructure as Code

  • Exposure to data orchestration tools, APIs, and event‑driven integration.
  • Relevant certifications (e. g. Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Fundamentals).

What We Offer

  • Annual performance bonus tied to individual and company outcomes.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, life assurance, and income protection.
  • Hybrid working model with flexible arrangements to support work‑life balance.
  • Generous pension scheme with enhanced employer contributions.

How to prepare for a job interview at Alpha FMC

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Alpha FMC uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
