The Role
As a Relationship Manager, you’ll play a crucial part in delivering our strategic goals, driving loan portfolio growth, and optimising fee and margin income. You’ll professionally evaluate lending opportunities, manage and nurture client relationships, and provide exceptional service to our real estate clients. Working pattern: Hybrid (minimum 3 days in the office including Wednesday as a core day)
Key Responsibilities
- The implementation of strategic objectives for the optimization of fee and margin income / loan growth in line with annual budgets/targets discussed and agreed with the Head of Real Estate Finance. The minimum target is a £15m net increase in loans over the assigned portfolio per annum.
- Professionally evaluate real estate lending propositions ensuring that sound banking judgement is exercised in assessing a loan proposal with a view to managing credit risk and obtaining a satisfactory return in line with the Bank’s remuneration guidelines.
- Develop and implement on an annual basis a marketing strategy in order to maintain existing relationships & realize new business opportunities, via direct contacts and intermediaries.
- Prime responsibility for managing client relationships (average of 60 clients) within own portfolio of real estate clients.
- To provide cover for other Relationship Managers within REF as and when the need arises.
- Assume overall responsibility for all aspects of the banking requirements of each client within the assigned portfolio, ensuring a first-class professional service to the Bank’s real estate clients.
- Liaising with other departments, in particular Credit Unit to see “pipeline” transactions through to completion.
- Keeping up to date with the changing trends and developments within the real estate finance market, the economic as a whole and the regulatory environment.
- Assisting the junior members in their day-to-day roles, providing advice and resolving problems whilst reporting any issues to the Head of REF.
- Oversee the account opening process including reviewing and obtaining updated KYC documentation as required.
- Represent REF at internal meetings when required and carry out project work as and when needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a real estate finance role within a financial institution.
- Wide ranging knowledge of the UK real estate market, including residential & commercial, investments & development markets.
- A professional qualification such as an ARICS and or some experience of property law would be advantageous.
- ACIB qualification would be beneficial.
