The Role
We are looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance team, supporting core financial operations with a focus on reporting, financial control, and data quality. In this role, you will play an integral part in the month-end close process, ensuring the integrity of balance sheet data and contributing to statutory and regulatory reporting. You will also help strengthen financial controls, improve the reliability of data, and drive efficiencies across finance processes within a regulated banking environment. This position is ideal for a newly or part-qualified accountant with strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset, who is keen to use data and structured thinking to enhance how finance operates. In addition, you will provide occasional support across accounts payable and expense management, gaining broad exposure across the Finance function.
What You’ll Do
- Support month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and strong audit trails
- Assist with management accounts, regulatory reporting and Group submissions
- Maintain General Ledger integrity and perform balance sheet reconciliations, resolving any issues identified
- Contribute to accounting in areas such as FX, interest accruals and provisions
- Use data analysis to identify inefficiencies and support process improvements and automation
- Enhance Excel models and support finance system and reporting improvements
- Document and maintain clear, robust finance processes and controls
- Support audits and regulatory requirements, including preparation of supporting documentation
- Provide cover for accounts payable and expense management when needed
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, as well as reporting for senior stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, balance sheet control and core accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations and data validation
- Experience or strong interest in process improvement, automation and documentation
- Familiarity with accounting systems
- Good knowledge of IFRS; experience in financial services or a regulated environment is desirable
- Detail-oriented with a strong control and governance mindset
- Proactive and analytical, with the confidence to challenge and improve processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams
Qualifications:
Newly qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
