The aim of UK Language Camps Area Manager position is to ensure the outstanding planning, preparation and delivery of a number of UK summer camp programmes. It is an exciting, demanding and rewarding position. The position holder will directly affect the quality and success of their camps through their own performance and decisions.

PRE-SUMMER

Recruitment & Selection

  • Screen employment applications for specific positions relevant to your camps.
  • Correspond with shortlisted applicants in order to obtain necessary pre-interview information and schedule interviews.
  • Undertake applicant interviews and complete objective assessments of suitability.
  • Select applicants in a manner that maximises each camp's talent and performance.
  • Successfully and efficiently onboard successful applicants.
  • Provide information and support for successful applicants pre/post arrival.
Inventory and Resources
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of all camps' resource inventory.
  • Assist in the ordering of all camp resources in order to ensure they are comprehensive and support a successful programme.
  • Assist in packing centre resources.
  • Assist in the organisation of delivery logistics.
Programming
  • Own the Activity Planner of managed camps and ensure it is functional and ready for the operating period.
  • Own logistics for Premium+ course provision at managed camps.
  • Own logistics and resources for the standard excursion programme at managed camps including provider bookings, itineraries, tasks and risk assessments.
  • Own logistics for any special group requests.
  • Ensure the onsite activity programme is well defined, well planned and well-resourced with equipment, session plans and risk assessments.
Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Ensure Summary of Local Arrangement documents are completed with hosts and providers, and ensure there are no objective health, safety or welfare risks arising from their provision.
  • Complete site risk assessments and ensure risks are suitably controlled, with risk assessment and control measure information shared with relevant staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure fire safety procedures are accurate and made known to relevant stakeholders.
Accommodation Plans
  • Create and maintain accommodation rooming plans for managed camps, working closely with hosts to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
Training
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the management training programme.
  • Contribute to the delivery and logistics of frontline staff training; including attendance, accommodation and record keeping.
ICT
  • Support in the wider development and preparation of internal ICT systems, processes and procedures.
DURING SUMMER

Line Management

  • Lead the camp management teams to ensure they are supported, effective, and able to maximise the student experience.
  • Working with the UK Manager, assist in the performance management of all staff including; instances of discipline, grievance and capability.
  • Cover management positions in camps as necessary.
  • Recruitment and selection of camp staff if still required.
  • Work with the recruitment team to ensure frontline staff members are efficiently deployed across the portfolio.
  • Working with recruitment team, ensure all staff records and original documents are compliant.
Logistics
  • Work with the sales and customer care teams to manage enrolment change requests.
  • Support the camp teams to ensure physical and internal resources (such as itineraries or session plans) are in place to successfully deliver the programme.
  • Support the team to ensure that external provider services are of sufficient quality and quantity to successfully deliver the programme (e.g., coaches, catering, premiums, etc.).
  • Support the team with the use of logistical tools including the Activity Planner, Accommodation Plan, Catering Requests, Attendance System, etc.
Quality and Incident Control
  • Monitor, control and resolve client and customer care issues.
  • Monitor, control, resolve and investigate camp incidents escalated to your attention.
  • Working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, monitor and assist in the resolution of any safeguarding concerns.
  • Work closely with our hosts and providers to maintain a positive partnership and resolve any issues that arise for them.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with wider ALPADIA standards (including branding, planning, quality of activities, weekly pictures, testimonials for social media, student feedback, agenda use, etc.).
  • Complete camp safety audits and implement follow up action.
  • Ensure the attendance and absenteeism system is properly prepared, used and monitored at line managed camps.
Cost Control
  • Ensure staff are efficiently deployed throughout the week via the rota system and that overtime is limited to unforeseen events.
  • Ensure all staff working hours are properly recorded (including rota signature) and available to the payroll team.
  • Ensure centre expenditure does not exceed budget, and that all expenditure and camp income is properly recorded and consolidated.
  • Ensure that any records of service use, that can affect invoice amounts (e.g. classroom use, catering requests, accommodation records) are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in the updating of relevant camps' Purchase Order system.
  • Review invoices for approval.
Post-season
  • Analyse feedback forms.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement plan via reviews and updates of key policies, processes, structures and documents.
  • Support for Alpadia SA in Europe where requested.
Miscellaneous
  • Other administrative tasks as required.
QualificationsEssential
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire others.
  • Experience of managing in a young learner language camps/schools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with key stakeholders and build positive relationships.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, notably Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Experience and/or qualifications relevant to health, safety and student welfare.
  • Experience of event planning and logistics.
  • Experience working in a customer service setting.
  • Experience of designing and delivering staff training programmes, ideally in a high volume, seasonal organisation.
Desirable
  • Experience of managing operations across multiple sites.
  • CELTA/TESOL/DELTM qualification, or equivalent.
  • Experience using CLASS software.
  • Experience of working within, and knowledge of, the Accreditation UK quality framework.
  • Experience in recruitment and selection.
Additional Information

Fixed Term contract running from April 2026 to mid August 2026. This position is remote in the pre-summer period. During summer frequent travel to line managed camps will be necessary. The organisation will cover travel expenses. Accommodation can be provided during the summer if necessary. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students therefore all staff employed will be required to provide / undergo an Enhanced DBS check (and provide overseas conduct certificates where applicable).
