Job Description
Alpadia Language Schools is looking for an Academic Manager of English Studies to lead and deliver the ALPADIA classroom‑based language course in the UK and support the delivery of the English course in the EU and US via training, sharing best practice and mentoring those involved in the English course delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre‑summer responsibilities include leading teacher recruitment and onboarding, delivering academic training programmes and ensuring all academic staff are fully prepared for the season.
- Assist in updating course materials, oversee ICT and classroom resource planning and contribute to pre‑summer operational coordination.
- During summer ensure high‑quality course delivery and provide ongoing guidance and support to academic teams.
- Oversee student classing across the portfolio, ensure teaching teams are properly distributed across camps, work closely with the recruitment team to redeploy staff and maintain effective cover arrangements.
- Support academic teams with lesson observations and CPD delivery as well as ensuring compliance with the accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Essential
- TEFLQ Qualified or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Tools
- Experience of EFL teaching in a continuous enrolment setting
- Experience of managing a team
Desirable
- Experience of observing and providing feedback to teachers
- Experience of designing and delivering training and CPD programmes
- Experience of teaching young learners in an EFL summer school environment
- Experience of managing EFL academic courses in a summer school environment
- Experience of recruitment and selection
- Experience of EFL course development (particularly junior courses)
- Experience of using CLASS software
- Customer Service experience
- Experience of managing young learner summer school programmes
- Experience of managing multiple sites
- Experience of project management
- Experience of working within, and knowledge of, the Accreditation UK quality framework
- Experience and understanding of classroom ICT facilities including printing, copying, IWBs, OHPs and user profile management
Location and Dates of Commitment
- This is a fixed‑term maternity leave contract
- Start date – 19/01/2026
- Expected to last until 14/08/2026 with the possibility of extension depending on circumstances
- Note that during the operating period (21/06/2026 – 09/08/2026) the position requires potentially long hours and weekend working
- The work location will be the South‑East of England and frequent travel between will often be required between camps. Travel expenses are paid and accommodation will be available on request, subject to availability.

- All staff employed will be required to provide / undergo an Enhanced DBS check (and provide overseas conduct certificates where applicable)
