Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our care.
  • Monitor and supervise the student residence ensuring the proper safety conduct and wellbeing of residents.
  • Manage student behaviour at all relevant times with a judicious awareness of the need to sanction or encourage as appropriate.
  • Chase and find students who are missing from the programme to maintain high safeguarding standards.
  • Support and care for sick students in camp.
  • Carefully monitor the host institution's property ensuring it is well looked after and any damage reported and investigated.
  • Prioritise the safety of students above all else following our Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policy.
  • Be friendly and approachable whilst developing professional positive relationships with students that help to enhance their overall experience.
  • Ensure any concerns, worries or questions students may have are dealt with sensitively.
  • Ensure any safeguarding concerns that come to your attention are dealt with sensitively and information shared/escalated appropriately.
  • Ensure the accommodation is kept tidy.
  • Ensure the students go to bed and wake up at the appropriate times accompanying them as necessary.
  • Assist in the arrival check-in/departure check-out procedures.
  • Assist with regular damage inspections.
  • Assist with running of activities and excursions where required.
  • Assist with any additional tasks as given by the camp management team.

  • Have experience working with Juniors in a care position.
  • The ability to continue having a positive attitude when facing adversity or difficult situations.
  • Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of international students.
  • Calm under pressure, resilient and able to work independently.

  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare experience with under 18s.
  • Experience with multiple departments and teams.
  • Experience in a summer school environment.
  • Safeguarding Level 1 and 2.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.
  • Previous experience as a Welfare Officer, House Parent or similar pastoral role in camps/schools.
  • First Aid or Mental Health First Aid qualification.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or international environment.
  • Counselling, youth work or social care background.
  • Ability to speak another language.
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures and welfare documentation in educational settings.

Location of our course centre and dates of commitment

  • Typically a residential position with accommodation provided on site.
  • We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students therefore all staff employed will be required to provide/undergo an Enhanced DBS check, 3x referee details and overseas conduct certificates where applicable.
