Join ALPADIA’s team to make summer 2026 an unbelievable experience! We are looking for highly motivated people, who have the ability to engage and inspire young students, and who are looking for an enriching and educational experience themselves. We are currently recruiting English Language Teacher/ Cooking Facilitator on a fixed term summer contract.
Your role:
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our care
- Ensure all language tuition is appropriate to a camp environment in line with the Alpadia syllabus and course structure
- Have and demonstrate a sound knowledge and awareness of the use of English and the linguistic systems underlying it, providing appropriate models of both spoken and written English
- Ensure the content of the lessons considers the course objectives, the learning needs, and cultural backgrounds of the students
- Ensure each lesson leads to relevant learning outcomes, which are made known to students, and which are achieved through a coherent sequence of activities
- Ensure the teaching techniques are appropriate to the focus of the lesson and to the needs of the group and individual learners
- Ensure learning is promoted by the effective management of the classroom environment and resources
- Ensure students receive appropriate and timely feedback on their performance during the lesson
- Ensure lessons include activities to evaluate whether learning is taking place
- Ensure students are engaged and create a positive learning atmosphere
- Show initiative to ensure the syllabus is adapted to meet the specific needs of our students, both at a class and individual level
- Encourage the sole use of the target language in classrooms wherever possible, both from the students and the other teachers
- Always represent ALPADIA in the best possible way, being polite and friendly to the students, both inside and outside of the classroom
- Engage positively in a reflective teaching approach and developmental observation process, embracing an “open-door” classroom policy
- Arrive at the centre, and ensure all lessons start and finish on time
- Actively participate in all staff meetings as necessary
- Attend, and where necessary contribute to, weekly Professional Development Sessions in a spirit of positive engagement
- Assist with placement testing as required
- Read, understand, and sign any relevant risk assessments as required
- Liaise with the Camp Manager/Academic Manager to resolve any instances of issues/questions/concerns raised by students, agents, parents, or other stakeholders
- Always maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety, and welfare, highlighting any issues to the Camp Manager or Academic Manager
Your profile:
- Essential: Level 6 Qualification - Examples: https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean/list-of-qualification-levels
- Recognised EFL/ESL teaching qualification (CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, TEFL)
- Experience working with groups in an educational, training, or workshop environment
- Understanding of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching principles
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and safe kitchen practices
- Ability to explain instructions clearly and adapt language to different proficiency levels
- Strong organisational skills to plan, deliver, and manage cooking sessions
- Good classroom and group management skills
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills, patient and supportive
- Enthusiastic about language learning and cultural exchange
- Creative and resourceful in combining language and cooking activities
- Reliable, responsible, and attentive to safety
- Food hygiene awareness
- Safeguarding awareness
Desirable:
- Food Hygiene Certificate / Food Safety Level 2
- Previous experience delivering cooking classes or workshops
- Experience working in summer schools, camps, or multicultural environments
- Knowledge of international cuisines to link food with cultural learning
- Ability to design activities that integrate vocabulary, grammar, and speaking practice into practical cooking sessions
- First Aid certificate

- 3 x Afternoon (14:00 - 17:00) teaching with 9 hours Cooking Course contact time per week

- Residential or Non-Residential position with accommodation provided on site
- We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students therefore all staff employed will be required to provide / undergo an Enhanced DBS check, 3x referee details and overseas conduct certificates where applicable
