Role Overview
Lead Teacher – Inclusion (SENCo) will lead SEND provision across ALP Sittingbourne, working in partnership with the Senior Management Team to support learners aged 7‑19 with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with SMT and all staff to oversee and develop SEND provision across the school.
- Support the implementation, monitoring and review of provision maps, ensuring strategies meet learners’ EHCP outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers, tutors and LSAs in adapting provision and interventions.
- Lead the planning, delivery and quality assurance of Annual Reviews and EHCP processes.
- Monitor and maintain an Annual Review schedule, liaising with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities.
- Coordinate Section F provision, including allocation of time and resources.
- Coordinate therapeutic provision (speech and language, occupational therapy, counselling, wider school interventions) and embed therapeutic strategies into daily practice.
- Develop and implement interventions in line with SEN Code of Practice and school policies.
- Plan and deliver lessons to primary and secondary aged learners as required.
- Advance quality assurance and school development, including preparation for OFSTED.
- Mentor and support staff in developing SEND knowledge and practice.
- Monitor learner progress, engagement and wellbeing with the SMT.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant SENCo qualification (NPQ or NASENCO) or actively working toward it.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Experience of working with learners aged 7‑19 with complex needs and providing tailored interventions.
- Experience of managing a team or coordinating additional provision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Good communication, both verbal and written, with ability to keep confidential information secure.
- Computer literate and proficient in using ICT to support learning.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the National Curriculum and alternative learning qualifications.
- Salary & Benefits
Salary range: £36,000 – £42,000 per annum.
Full‑time, 40 weeks per year.
