The client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of highway maintenance and transport infrastructure projects. The role will involve leading projects from design through to delivery, managing consultants and contractors, and ensuring successful outcomes aligned with time, budget, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver highway maintenance and infrastructure projects from inception to completion
  • Manage project lifecycle including design, procurement, and delivery
  • Oversee and manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring performance and accountability
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, and risk registers
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Prepare technical reports and updates for senior stakeholders and programme boards
  • Engage with key stakeholders including elected members, parish councils, and local communities
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, CDM requirements, and council policies
  • Support procurement activities and contract management (including NEC frameworks where applicable)
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure value for money across projects

Key Requirements (Essential)

  • Proven experience working as a Project Manager within a local authority environment
  • Strong experience delivering highway maintenance and transport infrastructure projects
  • Design knowledge and experience in infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing consultants and contractors
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including elected members and local communities
  • Experience in budget management, financial reporting, and risk management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • HND/Degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
