Now, we’re on the lookout for a dedicated Complex Care Assistant in SW4 to join our outstanding team supporting a client with a Spinal Cord Injury.
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to an individual with a spinal cord injury in their home environment, enabling them to lead a full and independent life where possible. The role may involve assistance with personal care, mobility, bowel and bladder care, and support with daily activities, therapies, and social inclusion.
- Personal Care: Assist with daily hygiene tasks such as washing, dressing, grooming, and oral care. Support with continence management, including catheter care and bowel programs (training provided). Assist with safe manual handling and transfers, using hoists or other equipment as required. Support with skin integrity checks and pressure area care to prevent pressure sores.
- Health & Medical Support: Administer medications as prescribed (following appropriate training). Monitor the client’s condition and report concerns to healthcare professionals or case managers. Support with physiotherapy or other rehabilitative activities as advised.
- Daily Living Support: Support with meal preparation and feeding if necessary. Assist with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and general tidiness. Help the client attend appointments or social activities, including outings.
- Emotional & Social Support: Provide companionship and emotional support, promoting mental wellbeing. Support with hobbies, communication, and social engagement to reduce isolation.
- Documentation: Accurately record care provided, incidents, and observations in care logs. Follow the care plan and update records as directed by the client or care coordinator.
Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Caring, compassionate nature with a strong sense of dignity and respect.
- Willingness to undertake training, including spinal cord injury-specific care.
- Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience in care work, especially with spinal cord injuries, neurology, or complex care.
- Moving and handling experience.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence (if transport assistance is required).
Pay: Bank Hols = £20.40 per hour
Shifts: 07:45-20:00 & 19:45-08:00, Monday - Sunday
Drive: Male drivers over 25 only as you will need to drive a mobility van
Location: Clapham, London, SW4
