Role Description

We are currently hiring for a full‑time position as a Door Engineer.

This role will be based on sites across the country.

The position involves installing various types of doors, including

  • Sectional Doors
  • High Speed Doors
  • Automatic Doors
  • Sliding Gates
  • Traffic Barriers

Day‑to‑day tasks include site assessments, measuring and fitting doors and hardware, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing routine inspections.

The Door Engineer will read and interpret technical drawings, coordinate with site managers and other trades, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

The role also includes documenting work carried out, preparing basic reports, and providing clear communication to customers and colleagues.

The company provides all the required tools and equipment to carry out day‑to‑day tasks, as well as any training required for site access.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills in the construction trade or joinery, ideally with experience in door systems, access control, or related building components.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments for installation, adjustment, and repair work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and installation manuals.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and practical troubleshooting abilities for mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with site managers, colleagues, and clients.
  • Basic IT skills for documenting work, completing service reports, and using company systems.
  • Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in engineering, construction, or a related trade; formal qualifications (e. g., NVQ, City & Guilds) are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations within construction or industrial environments.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites in the Greater Glasgow Area.
  • Prior experience in door installation, maintenance, or a similar engineering role is highly beneficial.
