Executive Director

Brief:

  • To partner with the Artistic Director to form key strategic policy and to take responsibility for the efficient running and financial management of the company.
  • To marry the artistic ambition with the logistical, financial and practical resources of the company and to create and sustain a business model to do so.
  • To oversee the practical delivery of the artistic programme.
  • To drive imaginative strategic thinking, analysis, financial management and rigour throughout the senior management team in response to the artistic ambition, and to create initiatives and operational strategy to do so.
  • To secure the day to day operation of the company, creating an environment in which everyone working at the Almeida can flourish.
  • To report to the Board of Trustees on a regular basis to ensure that the Board is aware of key strategic, operational and financial matters.

Responsible for Artistic Programme:

  • Overseeing the producing and delivery of the artistic programme working across all areas to a strategic, financial and practical plan within available resources.
  • Leading the commercial exploitation of thework and managing the key external relationships to do so.

Governance:

  • Ensuring that the administration of the Board meetings and governance is carried out within the guidelines appropriate to the running of a charity
  • Managing the company\’s relationship with Arts Council England.

Leadership:

  • Leading and developing a senior management team to create and maintain a motivated, energised and appropriately skilled group of departments to support the work of the company.
  • Working with the senior management team to create an environment of support and welfare for everyone employed.
  • Working closely with the Director of Operations to ensure that the day-to-day operation of the company is secure.
  • Initiating and leading key strategies (in conjunction with Artistic Director as appropriate) to deliver the Almeida\’s significant objectives through Marketing/External Communications, Fundraising and Development.
  • Managing and developing the key stakeholder relationships with the Artistic Director and Board of Trustees.

General:

  • The strategic planning of the Almeida\’s estate/property.
  • Overall responsibility for key HR operational issues and policies.
  • Support the Artistic Director/CEO in holding strategic responsibility for Health & Safety and with delegated responsibilities to maintain effective procedures to do so.
  • Leading the key policy initiatives to ensure that the company has developed strategies in place for HR, equality, diversity, sustainability that meet artistic ambition, ACE goals as set out to meet funding requirements and current legislation.

Financial Management:

  • The strategic financial management including overall financial modeling for longer term and year on year to oversee implementation and monitoring of income and expenditure targets as set in conjunction with the Artistic Director.
  • Driving imaginative strategy to secure the economic model.
  • Leading the application process for renewing the Arts Council England (ACE) investment through the National Portfolio.

External Relationships:

  • Leading the strategic relationships with key stakeholders to develop advocates for the Almeida and nurturing those relationships.
  • Developing and managing effective and positive relationships with ACE.
  • Representing the Almeida in the industry through membership of appropriate trade bodies
