The Opportunity
At Almac Clinical Services, our engineering teams play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant operation of plant and equipment that supports the packaging and distribution of clinical trial supplies worldwide. We are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Day Shift) to support the ongoing performance and reliability of our facilities and equipment. In this hands‑on role you will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities, helping to ensure minimal disruption to operations and maintaining the high standards required in a GMP‑regulated environment. Working closely with Production and Equipment teams, you’ll troubleshoot issues, support improvements and contribute to the continuous development of plant performance. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining environmental conditions through HVAC and building management systems, ensuring our facilities operate safely and effectively at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities on plant and equipment
- Supporting the operation and maintenance of HVAC and building management systems
- Troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues alongside production teams
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation in line with GMP
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and equipment performance reviews
- Managing spare parts and liaising with external contractors when required
- Supporting projects, including commissioning of new or modified equipment
What You Need To Be Successful
To succeed in this role you will bring previous experience within a maintenance or engineering environment, ideally within a manufacturing or regulated setting. You will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline (or time served)
- Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Fault‑finding and troubleshooting experience
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
Desirable criteria
- Experience within the pharmaceutical, food or chemical industries
Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK/IE with no restrictions OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full‑time employment in the UK/IE.
This role reports to the Plant Supervisor and forms part of the wider Plant & Equipment team supporting operations in Craigavon. The role may involve on‑call duties and occasional overtime or call‑out support as required by the business.
