Are you a Graduate Electrical, Electronics or Software Controls engineering student? Do you love tinkering with electrical systems, building and prototyping in your spare time? Ideally you are part of your university’s Formula student team or have worked on projects related to automotive, motorsport or energy storage; you want to demonstrate your electrical engineering skills; and want to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing London based start-up that has built innovative battery storage systems for commercial and industrial applications. You will be responsible for the electrical design, control software development and testing of our energy storage systems. This is an exciting role that offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of an emerging industry and make a lasting impact on the future of energy storage.

Job Description

  • Support design of electrical systems and electronic assemblies.
  • Create electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and field wiring diagrams.
  • Support the design of control panels for 3-phase 400V systems and HV DC.
  • Specify and select electrical components including switchgear, protection devices.
  • Support software integration, debugging, software maintenance, and version management.
  • Develop testing specifications and commissioning procedures for systems.
  • Optimise firmware for maximum performance, reliability and efficiency.
  • Support build of systems, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Coordinate with I/O circuits for main controllers and safety systems.
  • Generate technical documentation and work activities.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in electrical, electronics, controls or automotive engineering.
  • Knowledge of micro-controllers and electrical system wiring.
  • Interest in computer science and software development, code in spare time.
  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes.
  • Must be self-motivated and an effective team player.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Nice-to-haves

  • A basic understanding of High Voltage vehicle systems and safety.
  • Experience in a Formula student team.
  • Knowledge of battery system technology including cell chemistries, BMS etc.
