Allye Energy is revolutionising the energy storage sector with our cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) built using repurposed EV batteries.

As Lead Commissioning Engineer, you ensure every battery energy storage unit leaves our facility with correctly deployed software, fully tested, and working first time—every time. Your work determines whether our reputation is 'they deliver units that work.'

Responsibilities
  • Own the entire commissioning process end-to-end
  • Deploy correct software version to all units before shipment
  • Final quality gate sign-off—nothing ships without your approval
  • Document any deviations or issues
  • Battery Test System Development & Battery Testing
  • Manage the development and robustness of SPEX (battery testing system)
  • Test battery packs in the container and assess results
  • Oversee battery spoofing/ghosting, integration and pairing
  • Ensure safety compliance in all testing
  • Process Improvement
  • Develop and optimise commissioning procedures
  • Reduce commissioning cycle time without compromising quality
  • Create automated tests where possible
  • Build checklists and quality gates
  • Make commissioning faster and more reliable
  • Lead and develop the Commissioning team
  • Coordinate with Software Development on deployments
  • Train team members on procedures and best practices
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years in testing, commissioning, quality assurance, or production engineering
  • Battery systems knowledge (testing, safety, health assessment)
  • Software deployment and validation experience
  • Understanding of embedded systems and hardware-software integration
  • Technical documentation and procedure writing
  • Hands-on technical capability with electrical systems
  • Process optimisation mindset
  • EV or energy storage systems experience
  • Test automation (Python scripting, automated test frameworks)
  • Electrical safety qualifications (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
  • CAN bus protocols and battery communication systems
  • Lean/Six Sigma or similar methodologies
