Senior Maritime Engineer (Safety) at AACE, UK Wide (predominantly South West) Location: UK Wide (predominantly South West) Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 (dependent on background, qualification, and experience) Job Type: Permanent Job Description AACE has a number of excellent opportunities for qualified and experienced senior maritime engineers to join our safety team. Applicants will ideally have worked in the military or supporting defence organisations and had exposure to providing maritime safety support under DSA02-DMR. You will be working within an experienced team of subject matter experts (SMEs) providing safety advice, guidance and leadership in a range of surface and sub-surface projects and programmes. You will need to be conversant with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) as well as possess excellent written and oral English skills. Tasks may include development of hazard logs, assessment of functional safety, development of safety case reports, and the provision of specialist safety advice, guidance and leadership. Role characteristics include the desire to meet or exceed client requirements with high-quality support and outputs, and a pro-active, flexible, and constructive approach. Key Skills and Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline Comprehensive maritime engineering experience in combat or marine systems either seagoing or in supporting organisations/companies Detailed working knowledge and/or experience in the MOD safety processes such as Defence Safety Authority (DSA) regulations, DEFSTAN 00-056, JSP 430 and the Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS) or similar Ability to hold SC security clearance Authoring skills safety documents including, but not limited to: hazard logs, safety case reports, and ALARP justifications/statements Working knowledge and experience in the use of Safety Engineering tools and techniques such as: Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, Event Tree Analysis (ETA) or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Competent with the full MS Office 365 suite of applications Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these confidently at all levels Incorporated or Chartered Engineer membership of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) or similar institutes/institutions Qualifications in safety engineering, including, but not limited to: Ship Safety Management Office (SSMO) Safety and Environmental Management Training (SEMT) Marine Engineering Management Training (MEMT) ISO 9001 Quality Management International Safety Management (ISM) Code Auditor Why Join AACE?
