A bit about the role: Reporting to the Head of Consumer Communications, the Senior Consumer Communications Manager, Winners, is responsible for helping to make The National Lottery relevant and exciting for modern Britain, with a particular focus on real life winners of The National Lottery. Your mission is to transform winning stories into compelling cultural moments that inspire and excite across platforms. Your ability to demonstrate great media and influencer relationships, combined with pitching and landing creative, human-interest stories will build brand love and trust in The National Lottery, and its ability to change lives every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the integrated planning and delivery of all PR activity involving National Lottery winners, showcasing how The National Lottery changes lives every day.
  • Oversee the delivery of new winner reveals that engage and excite across earned, social and digital platforms, while balancing winner privacy and adhering to compliance.
  • Identify winner new generation opportunities to maximise The National Lottery’s relevance in British culture and entertainment.
  • Oversee and evolve our direct-to-winner communications channels (e.g. Facebook group, winner magazine, regional events etc.), to maintain close relationships and create a positive environment for future media activity.
  • Oversee creation of all winner-related media materials and media pitching, adjusting the approach based on trends and feedback.
  • Collaborate with Winner Services, Brand Managers, Creative Studio, and Social to continually innovate our winner PR approach in line with consumer trends and the evolving media landscape.
  • Oversee reporting and evaluation, highlighting insights and actionable recommendations to improve performance.
  • Partner with the Corporate Communications colleagues to manage winner specific issues.
  • Line manage a Consumer Communications Manager and Consumer Communications Executive.
  • Lead our relationship with our winner PR agency, working in partnership to ensure strong results.
  • Budget management.

This role requires a significant amount of UK travel, with up to three overnights a month during busy periods. All out of hours work will be compensated with time off in lieu.

What experience we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience in PR, media, or journalism.
  • Established media and relevant social influencer relationships.
  • Strong media relations skills with a track record of securing high-impact coverage.
  • Strong understanding of modern media consumption, consumer trends, and best practices.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • High levels of creativity and strategic thinking.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Agency management experience.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude with a positive, proactive mindset.

  • Increased positive proactive coverage about winners, that helps build excitement and trust in the Allwyn UK and The National Lottery brands.
  • Increased innovation in winner storytelling.
  • Increased relevance and consideration of The National Lottery, especially amongst younger audiences and non-players.
