A bit about the role

Reporting to the Credit & Collections Manager, the role will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced accounts receivable function.

The credit team lead will supervise and lead a team of two, assisting the team with ongoing guidance, training and mentoring.

You will apply a structured approach to analyse and credit assess our retailer estate alongside staying up to date with the

economic factors affecting our retailers. Managing credit risk and ensuring retailer exposure is minimal is vital to success.

Ensuring retailer collection processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensuring risk is managed and

reviewed periodically and security bonds are maintained to minimise exposure to bad debts.

Provide sufficient resolutions to problems and queries to accounts receivable processes. Managing and implementing new

reporting across credit control and continually drive process improvement.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for managing the daily activities, including but not limited to, daily banking, cash allocation and reconciliation up to £50m per week.
  • Responsible for maintaining a security bond ledger (£14m)
  • Managing credit risk exposure up to £30m weekly
  • Ensure the weekly direct debit file is prepared, authorised and released on time (£50m weekly).
  • Ensuring the return direct debit files are prepared on time.
  • Reporting on outstanding debt, bad debt and other stats as and when required by way of KPIs Monitoring weekly collection updates and failures.
  • Ensuring that accounts are prepared and passed to the debt collection agency.
  • Assisting with the Bad Debt report for review and sign off.
  • Credit risk decision making based on external financial report
  • Support the Credit & Collections Manager to help achieve the Finance Operations teams KPI’s so management can track performance
  • Ensuring all month end processes are completed including month end reconciliations.
  • Assist with changes to processes and procedures.
  • Attending internal departmental meetings.
  • Assisting the credit & Collections Manager with any ad hoc projects.
  • Team management including annual staff appraisals, 121 and setting of team’s objectives.

What experience we’re looking for

  • At least 3 years’ experience in supervising a credit control team
  • Qualified CICM desirable
  • Experience with reporting on Aged Analysis, KPI’s and other Statistics
  • Experience of credit control/Accounts receivable within a corporate setting
  • Experience of using SAP desirable (other finance systems) Must be able to work under pressure
  • Able to forge strong relationships across the business
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to provide constructive challenge where necessary
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data effectively
  • Must be self-motivated and self-starting with ability to multi-task and effectively manage own workload
  • Strives for excellence and continuous improvement
