We’ll talk a bit more about us further down the page, but for now – let’s talk about the role and who we’re looking for…
A bit about the role
The Principal Insight & Analytics Analyst is a senior subject matter expert responsible for shaping, leading and delivering advanced analytics products that influence strategic and operational decisions across Allwyn.
This is a highly visible, hands on role that combines deep technical capability, squad delivery accountability, senior stakeholder engagement and mentoring.
The Principal Analyst will also be embedded in the Player squad, acting as the trusted analytical “right hand” to their Business Partner and accountable for the quality and delivery of analytics within that squad.
This position plays a key role in a matrix operating model: setting the standards, coaching analysts and assuring analytical quality across squads, while partnering with the squad Business Partner to ensure analytics delivery is focused, impactful and aligned to business priorities.
- What you’ll be doing
- Champion a culture of curiosity, technical excellence, responsible data use, commercial impact and continuous improvement.
- Raise the capability of the wider analytics community through technical guidance, peer review, reusable frameworks, documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Shape squad and analytics roadmaps with Business Partners, helping prioritise work based on business value, technical feasibility, data readiness and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate closely with data engineering, data product and technology teams to ensure data infrastructure, pipelines and semantic layers support advanced analytical needs.
- Translate complex data and modelling outputs into clear, compelling narratives tailored to executive, senior leadership and operational audiences.
- Define best practice for analytical methods, data modelling, experimentation, measurement, forecasting, segmentation and data storytelling across the team.
- Apply advanced hands‑on analytics using Python/R, SQL, Power BI and relevant statistical or machine learning techniques, ensuring outputs are robust, scalable, automated where appropriate and suitable for repeated business use.
- Own and govern the end-to-end lifecycle of critical analytical products, from discovery and problem framing through to prototyping, productionisation, enablement and continuous improvement.
- Lead the strategy, design, development and delivery of high-impact insight-led analytics products that support key strategic and operational decisions.
- Work within a matrix model where analyst workload, squad priorities and day‑to‑day task allocation are defined by the relevant squad Business Partner, while this role owns analyst quality, development and analytical standards.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and quality assurance for analysts working across squads, ensuring outputs are robust, accurate, scalable and aligned to best practice.
- Line manage analysts across the team for performance, career development, capability growth, feedback, objective setting and professional standards.
- Be accountable for the delivery of analytics within the assigned squad, ensuring analytical activity is focused on agreed business priorities, delivered to a high standard and translated into clear business action.
- Act as the embedded analytical lead for an assigned squad, partnering closely with the squad Business Partner as their trusted “right hand” on data, insight and advanced analytics.
- What experience we’re looking for
- Familiarity with agile ways of working, squad delivery models and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Comfortable balancing multiple senior stakeholders, competing priorities and delivery timelines while maintaining technical integrity and business focus.
- Proven ability to lead complex analytical initiatives from ambiguous business problem through to embedded business change.
- Ability to operate as the subject matter expert on advanced analytics, advising on methods, tools, technical standards and interpretation of complex outputs.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, data quality, metric definition, analytical engineering principles and collaboration with data engineering teams.
- Experience designing, governing and scaling analytical products, insight frameworks, semantic layers, dashboards or measurement solutions used across multiple business areas.
- Advanced hands‑on capability in SQL, Python or R for advanced analysis, automation, statistical modelling, forecasting, experimentation, segmentation or machine learning use cases.
- Demonstrable experience partnering directly with Business Partners, heads of function, directors or equivalent senior leadership audiences.
- Proven ability to coach and develop analysts, including setting objectives, giving feedback, supporting career development and raising performance standards.
- Significant experience in senior stakeholder‑facing analytics roles, with a strong record of influencing strategy and decisions through data.
