Your Role in the Team

We have (12 month) year-in-industry placement opportunities starting in summer 2024 for IT undergraduates with a keen interest in Customer Technical Support (including hardware, software and networking). If you have an interest in solving technical issues coupled with a customer-centric approach, then this opportunity is a perfect fit for you. Please note that this position is only available in our Derry/Londonderry Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize employee satisfaction by providing a support service experience that employees find welcoming and appealing.
  • Deliver support services that employees are eager to use - support includes personalized configuration, troubleshooting, problem resolution and proactive technical advice.
  • Support mobility devices such as company mobile phones (Android, iOS), iPad.
  • Provide application and hardware support for all managed desktops (Windows/OSX), printers, network connectivity, VPN etc. including lifecycle management of workstations.
  • Provide personalized incident management for ticket creation, engineering engagement, escalation and direction – be a single point of contact for communication status.

Applicants should have knowledge of, and keen interest in, IT Infrastructure to include:

  • PC – Windows and Apple Mac.
  • Mobile phone – Android/iOS/Windows.
  • Conferencing – video/audio with emphasis on Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Collaboration tools – Teams, SharePoint Online.

Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Skills

  • All candidates must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy.
  • Expecting to complete your second year of a computing-related degree course by the end of June 2025 (or the third year for relevant IT degrees).
  • You will have achieved 2.1 classification or higher in your course modules to date. Please include a full list of module marks from your first year and any current year to date. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of the application.
  • As part of this role, you will be required to be in Derry/Londonderry Office 5 days a week.

Desirable Skills

  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential.

Placement students who successfully complete their one-year placement with Allstate Northern Ireland may be made conditional offers of permanent employment with Allstate at the end of their placement. These positions will commence post-graduation and will be communicated separately.
