The Lead AI & Technology Risk Auditor is a senior audit professional responsible for leading complex technology and business audits across high‑risk and emerging technology domains, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Machine Learning (ML), advanced analytics platforms, and cloud‑native technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead complex technology, cyber, data, and AI‑focused audits from planning through reporting, ensuring delivery of high‑quality audit outcomes within agreed timelines.
  • Develop and execute risk‑based audit programs that assess governance, risk management, and control effectiveness across technology platforms, cloud environments, AI systems, and data solutions.
  • Evaluate controls supporting the design, development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing governance of AI and machine learning solutions.
  • Assess generative AI and large language model (LLM) implementations, including model governance, prompt engineering controls, output validation processes, data privacy protections, and third‑party AI service provider oversight.
  • Apply data analytics, automation, and AI‑assisted audit techniques to improve audit effectiveness, perform full‑population testing, identify anomalies, and uncover emerging risks.
  • Conduct walkthroughs, control assessments, testing procedures, and root cause analysis for complex technology and business processes.
  • Communicate audit observations and recommendations through sprint reviews, stakeholder discussions, and formal audit reports.
  • Partner with technology and business leaders to understand strategic initiatives, emerging risks, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to audit team members in areas including technology risk, AI governance, data analytics, control evaluation, and strategic thinking.
  • Contribute to Internal Audit transformation initiatives through the development of innovative audit methodologies, AI‑enabled audit practices, continuous monitoring capabilities, and automation solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging AI regulations, industry standards, and technology trends, incorporating them into audit planning and execution.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, Technology Risk, Cybersecurity, or Technology Control functions within a regulated or large enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 1+ year of professional experience auditing, implementing, assessing, governing, or supporting AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or Advanced Analytics solutions.
  • Practical experience with at least one analytical or technical tool such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SAS, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience presenting audit findings, risk assessments, or technology control recommendations to senior management and business stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

  • Professional certification including CISA, CIA, CPA, CFE, CA, CRISC, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • AI‑related certifications such as ISACA AI Fundamentals, ISACA Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA), AWS AI Certifications, Microsoft Azure AI Certifications, Data Science or Machine Learning certifications.
  • Experience auditing cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience building or leveraging automated audit testing, continuous monitoring, predictive risk scoring, or audit automation solutions.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, model risk, and regulatory compliance requirements impacting AI systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging technology trends and the future application of AI within Internal Audit.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct people management responsibilities but is expected to provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to audit team members and project participants.
