Your role in the team
We are active looking to hire a Product Engineering responsible for building scalable integrations across Policy Center and external systems using APIs, messaging, and event-driven patterns with strong testing and delivery discipline.
For this opportunity, the business is flexible to hire at Consultant, Senior Consultant and Lead Consultant, depending on experience & interview evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop REST/SOAP APIs and messaging integrations using Guidewire framework.
- Implement event-driven integrations with Kafka, JMS, or MQ.
- Apply XP practices including incremental delivery, pairing, and CI pipelines.
- Follow TDD to build API contracts, mocks, and automated integration tests.
- Ensure resiliency with retry, idempotency, and fault‑tolerant design patterns.
- Deliver outcome‑based improvements (reduced latency, reliable system communication).
- Perform data transformation (XML/JSON) and ensure consistency across systems.
- Troubleshoot integration issues including failures, data mismatches, and performance gaps.
- Support full lifecycle including deployment and production monitoring.
Essential Skills
- All applicants must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy.
- A minimum of 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing, developing, and supporting Guidewire integrations and API‑based solutions.
- Strong understanding of Guidewire integration architecture, including web services, event‑driven integrations, and third‑party system connectivity.
- Experience working with REST and SOAP APIs, messaging technologies, and microservices‑based architectures.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Gosu development within Guidewire environments.
- Experience implementing Test‑Driven Development (TDD) practices and utilizing automated unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex integration issues.
- Experience working within Agile software development teams and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in the use of Gen AI.
- Experience with Personal Lines Insurance line of business.
- Experience in Agile, with XP preferred and comfortable with pair programming.
- Experience with Agility (or Version 1).
