Allstaff Logistics Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of Import Clerk for a company based in Renfrew.
We are currently recruiting for an Import Clerk to join a busy freight and logistics team. This is a great opportunity for someone with some experience in freight forwarding who is looking to further develop their career within import operations.
Working as part of a small operations team, you will assist with the coordination of import shipments and support the preparation of customs documentation and CDS declarations. Training will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone who already has some exposure to the freight industry and is keen to build their knowledge within imports and customs processes.
You will liaise with customers, overseas agents and transport providers to ensure shipments move smoothly and documentation is completed accurately. This role suits someone who is organised, eager to learn and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Assist with coordinating import shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Support the preparation and submission of CDS customs declarations
- Liaise with customers, overseas agents and transport providers regarding shipment updates
- Ensure import documentation is accurate and completed within required timescales
- Assist with arranging deliveries once shipments have cleared customs
- Monitor shipment progress and update internal systems
- Help resolve any documentation or delivery queries
- Provide general administrative support to the operations team
- Minimum 6 months experience within freight forwarding, shipping or logistics
- An interest in developing a career within import operations and customs
- Some knowledge of import processes or customs procedures would be beneficial
- Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Confident communication skills with a clear telephone manner
- Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1 hour lunch)
