Allstaff Manufacturing Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of senior Estimator, with our well established client who is experiencing a period of growth. The Estimator will join a successful estimating team looking to expand after 2 successive years of record contract wins within a rapidly growing family-owned business in Glasgow – first established over 55 years ago.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out and prepare detailed take-offs and costings to present in tenders and quotations for windows, doors, curtain walling and other façade materials.
  • Review architect drawings, specifications, façade consultant reports, ERs, scope of works and other related documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Collect and analyse data on materials, labour, and other overhead costs.
  • Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Clarify project details with clients to ensure estimates align with project scope.
  • Identify and develop value engineering opportunities.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and procurement.
  • Provide technical support to sales team.
  • Handover of estimate and supporting documentation to design and production teams upon receipt of order.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and methods.

Requirements

  • Experience or qualifications in estimating, quantity surveying, construction/project management or procurement.
  • Ability to interpret, work with and effectively communicate information taken from technical drawings, specifications, building standards/regulations and other contract documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a high level of numeracy.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate at all levels externally or internally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, confident using formulas and manipulating large amounts of data within Excel and using multiple inboxes within Outlook.
  • Strong organisation and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines.

Beneficial/Desirable Experience

  • Experience within glazing industry.
  • Experience of UK wide building regulations including new gateway requirements.
  • Experience of multiple types of construction.
  • Knowledge of Passivhaus Standard.
  • Knowledge of NHBC, Premier or other building warranty standards.
  • Minimum of 18 months relevant industry experience.
  • Previous working experience in the construction industry in Northern Ireland or Northern/Southern England.
  • Prior experience working within a Quantity Surveying, technical, or estimating team in a commercial department.
  • Experience with housing, new build façades, curtain walling, and glazing.
  • Experience using Bluebeam software would be highly advantageous.

Location: Whiteinch, Glasgow

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling between 7:00am and 6:00pm. Hybrid and flexible working options available – 2 days working from home and 3 days in the office.

Salary: DOE
