ESS Employment are seeking an CNC Miller Operator to work for an established company.

The successful candidate will assist in the manufacturing of parts through the production process, ensuring planned times for setting and manufacturing are met or improved; and high-quality parts produced within required performance, cost and delivery targets.

Responsibilities

  • Setting and operating 3/4/5 axis CNC milling machines using Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls and.
  • Producing high complexity components from a range of materials
  • Adhering to quality standards
  • Involvement and attendance at meetings in assigned area/s
  • Ensuring performance of part production to planned set and run times and Quality requirements
  • Communicating Not Right first time (NRFT) within assigned areas
  • Assisting the Manufacturing Group Leader in improving the 5S organisation of the team area
  • Responsible for ensuring correct materials, Route Cards, drawing are used to produce components
  • Setting up tools, offsets etc ready for your own operation to commence and assist Operators where appropriate
  • Ensuring Delivery Schedule Adherence of parts to system / route card dates
  • Flexibility to work at our other Group site in Bristol if required
  • You may be required to work alternative shifts / hours
  • Perform any other reasonable duties/specific projects from time to time and as directed by management.
  • Ability to select and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and fixtures for the machining process.
  • Experience in setting up CNC machines, including installing workpieces, fixtures, cutting tools.
  • Ability to set Work offsets with probes and manually by wobble bar/DTI clock.
  • Keen eye for detail and the ability to monitor the machining process closely, making adjustments to tooling or machine settings as necessary to maintain precision and quality.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in operating CNC machines, specifically Heidenhain and/or Fanuc Controls
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming languages.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment – Zero Tolerance to safety.
  • Knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Compliance with company policies, quality standards, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a proactive, ethical and can-do approach.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate production records, including setup sheets, tool lists & kits
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, machining techniques, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of component dimensions using various inspection equipment - including but not limited to Micrometres, Verniers and Plug Gauges.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and Engineering drawings is essential.
  • Ability to produce components to drawing tolerance and specifications, efficiently and accurately as required by internal and external customer specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Use of inspection machines – CMM / Opticline machines
