We are currently recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for our client based in Sussex.
The purpose of the Kitchen Assistant is to support the Chef and kitchen team in providing nutritious, high-quality meals and refreshments for residents.
The Kitchen Assistant will help maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment while ensuring residents receive an enjoyable dining experience that meets their individual needs.
Responsibilities for the Kitchen Assistant
- Assist the Chef with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients.
- Support the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and refreshments to residents
- Ensure meals are served safely, attractively, and at the correct temperature.
- Assist with preparing special dietary meals, including texture-modified diets, allergies, and individual dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
- Wash dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces in line with food hygiene standards.
- Carry out cleaning duties, including kitchen equipment, floors, work surfaces, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety procedures, including safe storage, stock rotation, and temperature checks.
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring stock is stored correctly.
- Support with stock control and reporting any shortages or issues to the Chef.
- Reduce food waste by following portion control and appropriate food storage procedures.
- Assist residents during mealtimes where required, ensuring dignity, choice, and a positive dining experience.
- Follow all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures.
- Work collaboratively with care staff and the wider team to support residents' wellbeing
