We are currently recruiting a Chef for our client based in Sussex.
The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality, nutritious, and well-balanced meals for residents within the care home, ensuring dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional needs are met.
The Chef will be responsible for planning menus, preparing meals, maintaining food safety standards, and creating a positive dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities for the Chef
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for residents, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
Plan menus that meet residents’ dietary requirements, including allergies, cultural preferences, specialist diets, and medical needs.
- Work closely with care staff, residents, and healthcare professionals to understand individual nutritional requirements.
- Ensure meals are prepared and presented to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, stock levels, and food safety checks.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
- Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and minimise food waste.
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
- Adapt meals for residents with swallowing difficulties, such as soft or modified diets, where required.
- Support residents’ wellbeing by encouraging choice, dignity, and enjoyment during mealtimes.
- Assist with special events, celebrations, and themed meals within the care home.
- Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure residents receive the best possible service.
