Broughton High School is founded on the values of respect, inclusion and integrity. We have high aspirations for our young people and believe that together we achieve more. Located to the north of Edinburgh's city Centre, our school building is a superb example of modern architecture: its appearance inspires those who learn and work here, and it operates very effectively as a learning environment.
Broughton fully integrates and embraces three specialist provisions into the life and work of the school: the Edinburgh Music School, the SFA Performance School and the Specialist Dance Unit. We believe in enabling every young person to fulfil their potential as an individual and as a member of their wider community. We emphasise the importance of excellent teaching and learning and strive to deliver flexible learning pathways that meet the needs of all young people.
Tynecastle High School is a six-year comprehensive secondary school which has served west-central Edinburgh with distinction for over 100 years. The school moved to a fantastic new site in January 2010 and has first class educational facilities. The school is thoroughly rooted in its local communities, with learners drawn from Balgreen, Craiglockhart, Dalry and Stenhouse Primary Schools. The school roll is currently around 870. The school offers a wide range of subjects and successfully presents students for SQA exams at all levels. There is a strong sense of pride in the school demonstrated by students, staff and parents.
A bank of strategies supports the successful integration of pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities in the school and the curriculum. As well as a strong record in supporting young people into the world of work, the school has, over many years, successfully supported significant numbers of high attaining students into a wide range of courses at Universities across the UK. Staff know their students well and a high priority is set by all staff on pastoral care and on ensuring pupils' welfare. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm with respectful relationships underpinning purposeful learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to build the capacity of two Technologies Teams. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to support the busy work within these faculties. This is a diverse role that requires a high level of energy with good communication and planning skills.

- Preparation of material for practical classes (cutting, sizing & sorting - timber, metal & plastics)
- Ensure that workshops are maintained to high standard
- Sharpening and checking hand tools
- Ensure operational compliance and safety of machinery
- Monitoring and maintaining stock of materials
- Training can be accessed, where required, for specific machinery and general upskilling.
