The Best Connection is currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Room Assistant to join our Wolverhampton-based client, working within a busy manufacturing environment. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for the right candidate, with the potential to secure a permanent position with the company following a successful trial period.
The Role
- Support the Tool Room team with the preparation, finishing and maintenance of tooling and components.
- Main duties will include:
- Surface grinding
- Grinding tooling and components to accurate dimensions and tolerances
- Producing smooth, precise surface finishes
- Working with punches, dies and other tooling components
- Checking finished components for accuracy and quality
- Following technical drawings and specifications
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Supporting the wider Tool Room team with general duties as required
About Punch & Surface Grinding
Punch grinding involves accurately grinding punches, dies and cylindrical tooling to achieve precise dimensions, tolerances, profiles and surface finishes. Surface grinding is used to produce extremely flat and accurately sized surfaces on components such as steel plates, machine parts, tooling and dies.
Working Hours
- Monday: 07:30 - 16:30
- Tuesday - Thursday: 07:30 - 16:00
- Friday: 07:30 - 14:00
Pay
Up to approximately £15.00 per hour, negotiable depending on previous experience and skill level.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working within a Tool Room, engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience of punch grinding and/or surface grinding would be highly advantageous.
- Previous Tool Room or engineering experience.
- Experience with grinding machinery.
- An understanding of engineering drawings and measurements.
- A strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
