Hays Education are working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Wolverhampton that is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment where every child is supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Due to an increased need for support, the school is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their Year 5 team from September 2026.
Your new role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom. You will provide in-class support, work with small groups of children and deliver targeted 1:1 interventions to help pupils achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their learning. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting Key Stage 2 children and making a positive impact on their education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom
- Work with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning
- Deliver targeted 1:1 support and interventions
- Assist children with their academic, social and emotional development
- Support pupils across a range of curriculum areas
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school staff
- Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress
What you'll need to succeed
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or recognised equivalent
- Previous experience supporting children within Key Stage 2
- Experience delivering small group and 1:1 interventions
- A good understanding of the KS2 curriculum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS through Hays
