Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wolverhampton that is committed to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and inspired to achieve their full potential. The school has a strong focus on creating a nurturing environment, promoting positive relationships and delivering high-quality learning experiences for all children.
They are looking to appoint an experienced and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2026 until the end of January 2027 to provide cover during a period of sickness absence. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide PPA cover across all year groups while also delivering targeted English and Maths interventions to support children in reaching their learning goals. You will work closely with class teachers and senior leaders to ensure continuity of learning and maintain high standards across the school.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across KS1 and KS2 during teachers' PPA time
- Lead small group and one-to-one English and Maths intervention sessions
- Support pupils to make strong academic progress
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Monitor and record children's progress and achievements
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support colleagues across the school
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified HLTA status or recognised equivalent qualification
- Previous experience working as a HLTA within a primary school setting
- Strong knowledge of both the KS1 and KS2 curriculum
- Experience delivering lessons across a range of primary year groups
- Proven experience leading English and Maths interventions
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS through Hays
